Thank you for visiting our awards page. In addition to Student of the Month during the school year, Kiwanis Club of Bainbridge Island gives out at least two awards annually, one for Educator of the Year and the other for the Distinguished Citizen Memorial.

STudents of the month

March 2017 Woodward Middle School students of the month.

Throughout the school year our club recognizes Students of the Month from Woodward Middle School. Students are nominated by their teachers and principal. Students (and their parents) are invited to a regular club breakfast meeting and presented with a certificate and license plate frames (for proud parents).

educator of the year

Each year, the Kiwanis Club of Bainbridge Island has a committee which selects the Bainbridge Island Educator of the Year from candidates nominated by students, parents, other educators and the public at large. Selections are based on the nominee's contributions towards educating the students of Bainbridge Island. In addition to a very nice plaque the award includes $500 for the educator and $500 for the school.

Leslie Mirkovich was the 2016 Educator of the Year.

Living Memorial Center at Battle Point Park

The Living Memorial Center at Battle Point Park was established by the Kiwanis Club of Bainbridge Island after Battle Point Park was opened in the 1970s. This memorial posthumously honors distinguished citizens. The honor goes to long time Bainbridge residents who through their professional and community service have made exceptional contributions to the welfare and enjoyment of our Bainbridge Island community. The memorial pylon with bronze plaques stands in a quiet amphitheater surrounded by plum trees at Battle Point Park. The pylon was the base of a radio tower with a historic role in the battles in the Pacific Ocean during WW2.
